Obituary of Alma Casso

Alma M. "VanVlack" Casso, 80, of LaGrangeville, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009 at home. A lifelong area resident, she was employed as the Purchasing Manager at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, retiring in 1988. She loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren. She loved the Adirondack Mountains and loved to play cards with her friends. Born in Poughkeepsie on June 3, 1929, she was the daughter of John P. and Nita Millington Arnhart. She was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and the Krissler Business Institute. In 1946, in Poughkeepsie, she married Robert David VanVlack, he predeceased her in 1972. In 1982, in Beacon, she married Anthony Casso, who predeceased her in 1982. She is survived by her daughter, Laura A. Sebeth of LaGrangeville; daughter and sonó in-law, Christine N. and Peter Wright of LaGrangeville; a son, Robert C. VanVlack of Pleasant Valley; grandchildren, Robert Sebeth, Jenifer Lemister, Kimberly Whitted, Robert D. VanVlack, Tracy J. Duprey and Edward A. VanVlack; great-grandchildren, Travis and Anna Lemister and sisters, Florence Jones of Pleasant Valley and Barbara Trojan of Fishkill. She was also predeceased by a brother, John Arnhart. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 27, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Ave., Poughkeepsie.
