Obituary of Louis Ahlbach

Louis J. Ahlbach, 85, a local resident since 1955, died Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Mr. Ahlbach was an Administrator for IBM in Poughkeepsie and East Fishkill, retiring in April 1985. He was a member of the Fishkill Historical Society and the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Mr. Ahlbach served in US Marine Corps. during World War II from 1942 to 1946. He was very interested in poetry, art and history and he loved to read. Born Feb. 13, 1924 in Queens, he was the son of the late Louis and Johanna Knoedler Ahlbach. On June 5, 1948 in New Milford, NJ, he married Margaret S. Siry. Mrs. Ahlbach survives at home. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his sister, Joan Rogers of New Jersey and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, William Ahlbach and a sister, Barbara Warner. Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Monday, July 13, Funeral services will be 12 noon, Monday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Ave., Poughkeepsie.
