Obituary of George Behnke

George "Buddy" Behnke, 76, a lifetime resident of Poughkeepsie, NY, died March 18, 2010 in Myrtle Beach, SC. Mr. Behnke was employed as an electrical engineer for IBM Poughkeepsie, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Briarcliff RV Resort in Myrtle Beach, SC, IBM Country Club, and the IBM Quarter Century Club. Mr, Behnke served in the United States Air Force and was a parishioner of St. Martin de Porres Church. Born in Newburgh, NY, on April 28, 1933, he was a son of Frederick and Mary Edna Deeb Behnke. On June 29, 1958 he married Patricia M. Calega at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Mrs. Behnke predeceased him on January 16, 2009. Survivors include his daughters, Renee Behnke of Pleasant Valley, NY and Dana Geiner and her husband, Robert, of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Kyle Setaro, Andrew, Ashley, Alex, and Allison Geiner; brother, Fred Behnke of Burlington, VT; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 26, 2010, 10:00 am, at St. Martin de Porres Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Salt Point Turnpike, Poughkeepsie, NY.
