Obituary of Mary Bohan
MaryEllen V. Bohan, 70, a longtime resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, died February 16, 2010 at home. Mrs. Bohan worked for the Dutchess County Association for Retarded Children as a vocational evaluator for 23 years. She also worked as a teacher at Dutchess County B.O.C.E.S. in Salt Point as well as Washington Irving High School. She retired in August 2004. She was a CCD Teacher at St. Martin de Porres Church, where she was a parishioner. She was also a Girl Scout Leader. Mrs. Bohan was an accomplished gourmet cook and home decorator as well as an avid antiques collector. Born in New York City on August 9, 1939, she was the daughter of Mary O'Dea and Patrick Heffernan. She was a graduate of Notre Dame College. On August 19, 1962, she married Lawrence Bohan in New York City. Mr. Bohan survives at home. In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughter, Veronica Allgaier and husband, Michael of Poughquag; grandchildren, Liam, Christopher, Dianna, and Shawn; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Heffernan. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 21, 2010 from 1 - 4 pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 22, 2010, 10:00 am, at St. Martin de Porres Church, Cedar Hill Rd., Poughkeepsie. Burial will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
