Obituary of Evelyn Catapane

Evelyn Grace Catapane, 93, a longtime resident of Dutchess County, died Sunday, September 6, 2009, at Lutheran Care Center. Mrs. Catapane worked most of her life in retail. She was active in some clubs in the community and also did some volunteer work. A parishioner of Holy Trinity Church, she lived at Maple Wood for the past 25 years, where she was very active. Born February 13, 1916 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Paradisco Cascone. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Brooklyn, NY. On November 24, 1940, she married Neal John Catapane in Brooklyn, NY. Mr. Catapane predeceased her on February 2, 1965. Survivors include her daughter, Theresa Mary Catapane of Poughkeepsie. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by four sisters, Jenny, Rose, Helen and Mildred; and five brothers, John, Michael, Louis , Edward, and Arthur. There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 10, 2009, 11:00 am, at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Ave., Poughkeepsie.
