Obituary of Phyllis Conway

Phyllis M. Conway, 81, of the Town of Poughkeepsie, passed away on July 17, 2010 at home. She had been a telephone Operator for NY Telephone and AT&T. She was a local resident for most of her life, having lived in Carmel, NY until the age of 14, when she moved to Poughkeepsie. She was an avid country western music fan, and in her younger days enjoyed playing her guitar. She was born on May 10, 1929 in Carmel, NY, the daughter of Louis O'Dell and Sarah (Place) O'Dell. She attended schools in Carmel. She married Everett K. Conway on December 7, 1947 in Poughkeepsie, NY. Her husband predeceased her on December 26, 1977. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Judy & Charlie Hornick of Poughkeepsie, NY, her son, Wayne Conway of Poughkeepsie, NY, her daughter and son in law, Dawn & James Corbett of Pine Bush, NY, her grandchildren, Kelly Hornick, Amber Parken, Jimmy Corbett, Wayne Corbett & Kacy Corbett, her great grandchildren, Billy and Andrew Parken, her sisters, Anna Kozlowski Sheridan of Wappingers Falls, NY and Cheryl Sereg of Port St. Lucie, FL, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Mildred Butler and brother, Louis O'Dell. Calling hours will be on Thursday, July 22, 2010 from 10am to 12pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 12pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Union Cemetery, Hyde Park, NY.
