Obituary of Janet Croushore

Janet M. Croushore, 78, of the Town of Poughkeepsie, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 23, 2010, with her family at her side. A 50 year local resident, she was a homemaker and enjoyed volunteering at Vassar Warner Home. She was a member of the PEO Sisterhood, Chapter AX. Janet's favorite pastime was enjoying her days with her family and at her summer residence on Good Year Lake, Oneonta, NY. Born December 2, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of Stanley and Frances Hicks. She was a graduate of the Packer Collegiate Institute of Brooklyn, NY. She was also a member of the United Community Methodist Church. On July 21, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY, she married Paul P. Croushore, Jr., who predeceased her on June 6, 1997. She is survived by her brother, Robert, and sister in law, Jane Hicks, daughter, Carol and son in law, Ralph of Poughkeepsie, with whom she resided with, son, William (Bill) and daughter in law, Lori Croushore of Hopewell Junction, grandchildren, Michelle Adel and her husband Christian of Poughkeepsie, Christine (Chrissy) Chiumento at home, Kelly, Katie, and Kyle Croushore of Hopewell Junction, NY. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and her great grandson, Isaiah, of Poughkeepsie. Janet was predeceased by her daughter, Linda, in 1958. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in her memory. Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 27, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 10am in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery
