Obituary of James Dolce
James Dolce, a resident of New Paltz, NY since 1971, formerly of New York City, died February 28, 2010 at Kingston City Hospital. He was 98 years old. Mr. Dolce was a photographer for the New York Daily Mirror for 36 years, Long Island Catholic Press from 1964-1971 and also worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 1988. He loved to work with wood, and was an avid baseball and Yankees fan. Born in Highland, NY, on March 16, 1912, he was the son of Lawrence and Louise Niccoletti Dolce. On May 28, 1944, he married Alice Cutler in Poughkeepsie, NY. Survivors include his sons, James E. and Susan Dolce of Port Ewen, NY; and Philip A. and Anne Marie Nolan-Dolce of Hyde Park, NY; three nieces, Donna Dolce, Marie Nobrega, and Caroline Navarra; two nephews, Michael and Mark Dolce; grandchildren, Maximillian P. Dolce of Ancramdale, NY; Sean Morgan and John Morgan and Jimmy P. Dolce of New Paltz. He was predeceased by three sisters, Theresa Dolce, Rose Norling, and Molly McHenry and four brothers, Bill, Mickey, Joe and Dominick. There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on March 4, 2010 at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Church. Burial will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.
