Obituary of Richard Duffee

Richard F. Duffee, 81, of the Town of LaGrange, passed away at home on Saturday, April 11, 2009. A local resident for almost 50 years, Mr. Duffee had also resided in Queens, NY. He was employed as a Manager at IBM, East Fishkill, retiring in January 1990. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1946 to 1949. He was a member St. Martin dePorres Church. Mr. Duffee was also a member of the Poughkeepsie Elks Lodge #275 and the Pirate Canoe Club. His life interests included politics, fishing, and the Pirate Canoe Club, where he was served as secretary for 10 years. Born in Medford, MA on Jan. 13, 1928, he was the son of Joseph and Louise McCall Duffee. He attended Marist College. On Jan. 27, 1951 in Medford, MA, he married Ann Donahue. Mrs. Duffee survives her husband at home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mary Duffee of Tucson, AZ; a son, Richard Duffee of Essington, PA; a daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and James Larivee of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Claudia, Erica and Travis Larivee; a sister Lorraine Jacobsen of Ashland, VA and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert, Leonard and Lawrence, a sister, Louise, and a grandson, Alexander. Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 17, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Martin dePorres Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, LaGrange Ave., Poughkeepsie. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice, Inc., 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
