Obituary of Ray Edwards
Ray A. Edwards, Jr., 77, of the Town of Poughkeepsie, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009 at the Dutchess Center for Rehabilitation and Health in Pawling. A former Freelance Technical Writer, he retired in 1993. He had been a resident of Poughkeepsie for the past 15 years, moving here from the Bronx. He served in the U.S. Army and was a family man and avid reader. Born on Feb. 20, 1932 in the Bronx, he was the son of Ray A. Edwards Sr. and Neta Bonsack Edwards. He was a graduate of Columbus High School in the Bronx. On April 5, 1959 at St. Mary's Church in the Bronx, he married Mary C. Baisi. Mrs. Edwards survives at home in Poughkeepsie. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Charline of Poughkeepsie and Mary and her partner, Peggy of Chester, NY; a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Frank Clyne of Circleville, NY; his much loved grandchild, Ceclia Edwards and his best friend, Bob Loch of Manhattan. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. Prayer services will be held during calling hours by Father LaMorte of Holy Trinity Church. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, 2009 at the funeral home. Entombment will take place at the Woodlawn Community Mausoleum in the Bronx. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
