Obituary of James Falanga
James Jerry Falanga, 92, of the Town of Poughkeepsie, passed away at home. A 65 year local resident, he had previously resided in New York and Trenton. He was the owner of Falanga's Dairy and Italian Deli. He retired in 1989. He was a member of the Italian Center and a past member of the Knights of Columbus #304. He was also a member of Holy Trinity Church. Mr. Falanga loved to travel, being with family and friends and loved to cook for his Family. He also liked working on trucks and cars and was an avid Yankee fan. Born in New York, NY on April 17, 1916, he was the son of Antonio and Jenny Polska Falanga. On August 2, 1943 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie, he married Anita G. Urciuoli. Mrs. Falanga survives at home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony D. and Patricia Falanga of Virginia Beach, VA and James and Nancy Falanga of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren, Cathy Falanga, Glen Falanga, Christina Falanga, Christopher Falanga, Kate Geppner and Debbie Falanga. Nine great-grandchildren; two great great grandchildren, and a sister, Rose Molnar of Trenton, NJ, as well as several nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank, Tom and Joe Falanga and a sister, Helen Falanga. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 from 4 to 8 pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009 at Holy Trinity Church, Poughkeepsie. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
