Obituary of John Fraser
John "Justin" Fraser , a Town of Poughkeepsie resident, passed away on September 29th at Vassar Brothers Hospital surrounded by his loving family. John was born on October 8, 1935 to Stephen and Charlotte Fraser in Brooklyn, NY. He married his wife Elizabeth of 53 years in 1957. Together they had eight children. Geriann Wentworth and her husband Darrell of Virginia Beach , John Justin Fraser, Jr. and his wife, Julia of New Jersey and James Fraser and his wife Ann Marie of New Windsor, NY, Maryellen Lopreato and her husband, Louis of Mahopac, NY, Kenneth Fraser of Poughkeepsie, NY, William Fraser and his wife Jennifer of Highland, NY, Paul Fraser and his fiancé , Connie Hance of Burlington, VT and Elizabeth Fraser of Poughkeepsie, NY. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, Justin Robert Fraser of Penagryl, PA and his brother Anthony Fraser of Bayville, NY; Amy Lucko and her husband, Kody of Virginia Beach, VA and their son Patrick ; Paul, Justin , Nathan and Eileen Wentworth of Virginia Beach, VA; Alexis and Rachael Fraser of New Windsor, NY; Timothy, Elizabeth and Christina Lopreato of Mahopac, NY; Kenneth , John and Dominick of Poughkeepsie and Matthew and Jared Fraser of Highland, NY. He is also survived by his sister, Charlotte Fraser of Brooklyn, NY, several nieces and nephews, good friends and fellow travelers. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his brother Steven Fraser. John worked for IBM as an electrical engineer for 38 years. He was a devoted member of St. Martin de Porres Church. While raising his family he was involved in Little League, CYO basketball and various activities at St. Martin's school and church. He loved sports and watching his own children succeed followed by his grandchildren. He loved to draw and do crossword puzzles and soduko. The family would like to thank Vassar Brothers chaplain Monsignor Farley and the Emergency Department and ICU, especially Dr. Kahn, Janell and Nancy for the care and compassion they provided to John and his family. Calling hours are from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October, 3rd at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Martin de Porres on Monday October 4th at 10 followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery Donations may be made for Masses at St. Martin's or to Meals on Wheels Poughkeepsie.
