Though I never got the pleasure of meeting Barbara in person, she was a huge support to me as I went through my own health crisis a few years back. She had her circle of friends praying for me and even sent me care packages to make sure I was in good spirits! It always amazed me at how she never failed to check in and see how I was doing, even at times when I know she was facing her own health issues. Rebecca, I'm so very sorry for your loss. Your mother will truly be missed. May you be comforted by all the good that she did for you, your family and others. She was such a loving and generous woman.

Barbara was a wonderful and amazing woman. She was kind, generous, and resourceful. Our son Greg reminded us last night that the first word he ever said was "Baba". She will live forever by those she touched, cared for, and befriended. We all will miss her.

I know you have lost a wonderful person. Barbara was with me when I delivered my first son. She was compassionate and caring. I am proud to say that this son went on to be an RN and exhibits the qualities Barbara had. She is gone, but not forgotten. My prayers are with the surviving family.

I met Barbara through her daughter Rebecca. She was so concerned with my childcare situation at the time, and immediately offered a second opinion, assistance, referrals. She had not even met me at the time. I cannot imagine how nurturing she must have been to her friends and family. I know she must be sorely missed. My thoughts are with you all. Chiara LaPlume

It was with heartfelt sadness that I learned of Barbara's passing. Barbara involved herself in so many worthwhile project/organizations and I was very lucky to have been able to work/serve on the boards of the local and state family child care associations with her for many years. Barbara was a mentor and friend to me and the community is richer for her numerous years of dedication & commitment to importance of the early years of our children. I will never forget her thoughtfulness & kindness. She served as an example to all of us. As one of the original founders of the the Family Child Care Network of the Hudson Valley in 1991, Barbara has seen the association successfully grow - benefiting the many early care providers in our area.
