Obituary of Jaqueline Higgins

Jaqueline G. Higgins, 68, a longtime Poughkeepsie resident and previously of Wavery, NY died Friday, April 16, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Hospital. Jackie was employed by the Arlington Teachers' Association as an Administrative Assistant. She loved going to work each day because of the wonderful people in the Arlington School Community with whom she came in contact. Jackie enjoyed dancing and working in her flower gardens. She was born in Buffalo, NY on April 6, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Ruth Mulligan. On April 17, 1965 she married Ronald Higgins, who survives at home. In addition to her husband, Jackie is survived by her daughter Jaqueline Ruskin and husband Nikolai of Nyack, NY, a sister, Donna Hammond of Gillett, PA, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Bryan Higgins. After cremation, her ashes will be buried at the convenience of the family in Waverly, NY. Calling hours will be held at the Vassar Alumnae House, 161 College Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603, on Sunday, April 25, between the hours of 1 and 5pm. Jackie's family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Vassar Brothers Hospital for the extraordinary kindness and outstanding care they provided as well as the friends and family who supported her through her illness.
