Obituary of Russell Ireland

Russell Ireland, 93, a lifelong resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, NY died on March 8, 2010 at the Lutheran Care Center. He was a 43 year employee of Shatz Federal Bearing as a setup man. He retired in 1980 with the closing of the company. Russell was a loving family man. He loved to ballroom dance, and went to both New York City and Roseland for Ballroom dancing. He was born on May 20, 1916 in East Fishkill, NY, the son of Chester Ireland and Ethel Mae Smith. He was a graduate of Arlington High School. On June 6, 1937 he married Gladys Meisner at St. Andrew's Church in Poughkeepsie, NY. His wife predeceased him in 2004. He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Bonnie & Gerard Milne, of Pleasant Valley, NY, his son and daughter in law, Barry & Candace Ireland of Poughkeepsie, NY, as well as his grandchildren Jeffrey and Julie Milne, Tammy Milne, Gregory and Annette Milne, Scott and Cathy Milne, Keith and Karen Ireland, and Kimberly and Pete DiMaio. He is also survived by six great grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew, and his brother Raymond Ireland of Hyde Park NY. He was predeceased by his brother Edward Ireland. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 11:30am at the LaGrange Rural Cemetery. Burial will take place at the LaGrange Rural Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
