Obituary of Edward J. Kelly
Edward J. Kelly 75, previously of Poughkeepsie, NY, died in Bluffton, SC. on Feb 3, 2010. He worked for IBM for 39 years as an engineer and benefits administrator. He retired 1991. Mr. Kelly and his wife resided in Bluffton, SC for the past 2 years with his daughter, Maureen and her family. He was first vice president of LaGrange Little League, manager of the Rebels baseball team, and was involved in CYO basketball. He was a member of IBM Country Club, a scorekeeper for the Vero Beach Dodgers Fantasy Camp, and the Arlington Grill golf league. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Army 25th Infintry Division from 1954-1956. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church and was a Eucharistic minister there. He was also a member at Saint Helen's, Vero Beach, St Philips, Willsboro NY, and St. Gregory the Great, Bluffton, SC. Ed loved to golf, and was a avid baseball player, playing semi pro baseball. Ed was born May 3,1934 in Poughkeepsie, the son of Edward Kelly and Kathleen Hughes. He graduated from Arlington HS and attended Dutchess Community College. He married Rosemary (Boots) Antenucci on Febuary 23,1957 at Holy Trinity Church. Mrs. Kelly surives at home in Bluffton, S.C. In addition to his wife Boots he is survived by his sons Keven Kelly LosAngelos, CA, Edward J. Kelly,III and wife Kelly Marie , Pine Bush, NY, his daughters Kathleen P. Kelly, Poughkeepsie, NY, Theresa M. Wilkins and husband Patrick (Mokey), Queensbury, NY and Maureen Briody and husband John, Bluffton, SC. One brother Joseph Kelly and sister-in-law Judy of Newburn, NC. 10 grandchildren Sean Scott, Peter and Andrew Hardisty, Felicia and Victoria Wilkins, Ryan, Lauren and Logan Kelly, Patrick and Megan Briody. Cousin John Kelly of Troy, NY. Cousins Al, Dennis and Peter Hughes and Anne Fox of Ireland, as well as . numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Kathleen Kelly and sister Patricia Mance. Ed died surrounded by his loving family and sincere caregivers. Ed's legacy was the faith he had in God and the his loving family and friends. He was passionate about baseball ( NY Yankees), golf, football( NY Giants)and (Notre Dame), and his summer home in the Adirondacks Mountains. His smile and laughter will live on in the lives of all who knew and loved him. Although my efforts may seem small and may never bring me fame, God will know I did my best and that I did it in His name. Calling Hours will be held Saturday, February 6, 2010 from 2pm to 6pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:45am on Monday, February 8, 2010 at Holy Trinity Church 775 Main Street Poughkeepsie New York. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery Poughkeepsie.
