Obituary of Kathryn LaMorte

Kathryn “Kaye” LaMorte. of Toms River, New Jersey, died on October 6, 2010 at Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ. She was 85 years old. Formerly of The Bronx, New York, she had been a resident of Holiday City West since 1983 and was very active in the community. She was a member of the Catholic Church of Saint Maximillian Kolbe in Toms River where she joined the Eucharistic Minister’s Society. Before moving to Holiday City, Mrs. LaMorte was a secretary in New York City. Born on November 8, 1924 in Bronx County, New York City, she was the next to the youngest of the eight children of Giovanni Apolito and Katherine Rainone. She was baptized at Saint Martin of Tours and received communion and confirmation at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. She attended Public School No. 16 and Evander Childs High School. On June 25, 1949 at the Church of Saint Anthony on Richardson Avenue in the Wakefield section of the Bronx, she married Joseph LaMorte, her husband of 54 years when he died on December 19, 2003. They had three children, The Reverend Joseph P. LaMorte, pastor of the Catholic Church of St. Gregory Barbarigo in Garnerville, NY (Rockland County); Kathryn M. Lindquist of Jackson, New Jersey; and the late James A. LaMorte, who died in 1991. She has two grandchildren, Jonathan and Kristin Lindquist. Mrs. LaMorte is also survived by his son-in-law, Richard Lindquist, her sister, Jeanette Fragale of Virginia, a nephew, The Reverend Richard A. LaMorte of Marist College, Poughkeepsie; and many devoted nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 7 from 3-7 at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Boulevard in Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30am on Friday, October 8 at the Church of Saint Maximillian Kolbe in Toms River. Interment will take place at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery in Toms River. Contributions in her memory may be sent to the Church of St. Gregory Barbarigo, 21 Cinder Road, Garnerville, NY 10923 and will be distributed among the family’s charities.
