Dear Barbara, Please accept my deepest sympathy on the passing of Dr. LaPietra. I am shocked and deeply saddened to learn that my special mentor and friend has passed. Dr Lapietra was an absolutely extraordinary individual who touched many lives over the years. I can still remember him 'dancing' and 'singing' across the lecture hall floor, bringing the world of science alive for his students. Even today, almost thirty years later, that memory still makes me smile! And so, I take comfort in knowing that Dr. LaPietra's spirit shall live on forever in the hearts and minds of those whose lives he touched so dearly: lives like mine. I shall remember him with with an almost fatherly fondness for all my days, and can only hope that my time on this earth will be spent in an equally meaningful fashion. It was truly an honor and privilege to call him a friend. I can hope that knowing others share in your grief will bring you some consolation. Please be well and strong. In deepest sympathy, Robert C. Osika

Barbara...my sincere condolences in your loss of such a singluar man, and I salute you for your years of care for Joe. As a former Marist (Bro. Stephen Aloysius) and in your husband's class of 1950, I have none but fond memories of us, from peeling potatos in Esopus to our bonding Tyngsboro days. How he loved trains then. You and Joe hosted a class reunion in your home some years ago...your welcoming is still remembered. Warmest regards from a Marist family friend. Dick Branigan -- Oshkosh WI branigan@uwosh.edu

Pam and I send our heartfelt condolences to Barbara and to the rest of the family. We honor Richard's life by celebrating and remembering him. He was truly a Renaissance man with a generous heart and spirit who always made everybody feel good about whatever they were doing....or trying to do. He welcomed my son Adam and my parents into his life and shared some special times with them too. Richard understood the meaning of love in all of its glory and permutations. I will always be grateful for having had the opportunity to witness his love for Barbara, because it was and always will be a testimony to the greatness of the human heart and the power of all that is divine. We send our deepest affection and regard, Judith Levy, Pam Fine, and the Levy family
