Obituary of John Mort

John B. Mort, 52, a Dutchess County Resident since 1961, died November 3, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie. Mr. Mort was employed by IBM in Poughkeepsie as a manager, where he received several managerial awards. An avid outdoorsman, he was active in local scouting. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Poughkeepsie. A loving husband, loving father, and grandfather, he enjoyed gardening and helping other people. Born in Greensburg, PA on February 23, 1957, he was a son of John Raymond and Rosemary Ann Husher Mort. He was a 1975 graduate of Arlington High School. On September 3, 1978 he married Theresa McGill in Poughkeepsie, NY. Mrs. Mort survives at home. In addition to his wife and parents of Salt Point, survivors include his sons, John Mort and his wife, Trian, of Salt Point and Keith Mort of Poughkeepsie; brothers, Kenneth and wife, Helene, of Brooklyn; Douglas and wife, Phyllis, of Holmes; and Gary and wife, Sandra, of Kingston; grandchildren, Keith, Ciara, Chloe, and Deanna; several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Gladys McGill; brother-in-law, Danny McGill and his wife, Maria, of TX; sister-in-law, Patty McGill of CA; sister-in-law, Kathy Lomuscio and her husband, Michael, of Poughkeepsie; brother-in-law, Michael McGill and his wife, Sandy, of Poughquag; sister-in-law, Margie Finucaine and her husband, Danny, of Poughkeepsie; brother-in-law, Ed McGill and his wife, Darlene, of TX; and sisterin-law, Dianna Dahoney and her husband, Jim, of CT. Calling hours will be held from 2-4 and 5-8 pm on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 6, 2009, 10:15 am, at Holy Trinity Church, Poughkeepsie, with Father LaMorte officiating. Burial will be on Washington Hollow Cemetery, Millbrook.
