Obituary of Antoinette O'Donnell
Antoinette Steffanci O'Donnell, a lifetime resident of Beacon, died January 24, 2010 at Lutheran Care Center at the age of 93. A beloved, caring, nurturing, kind, and warm-hearted mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother, Antoinette was also a true and loyal friend with a kind word for everyone. She worked as a sales clerk for the Schoonmaker Department store in Beacon as well as a receptionist for Dr. Leonard Supple, also located in Beacon. A devout catholic and a parishioner of St. Joachim's Church, she was a member of the Mother's Club at St. Joachim's as well as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at St. Rocco's. Antoinette volunteered a lot of her time working for the parish. She was an avid reader and enjoyed a tour of Europe (Italy in particular) that she took in 1975. One trip she particularly enjoyed was with her grandson William to Key Largo Florida. Sunday dinners with her family brought her great joy. Watching her grand and greatgrandchildren grow and become successful in school was a source of pride and joy for her. She was very proud of all the children in her family and was deeply loved by all of them. Born in Wiccopee, NY on January 20, 1917, she was the daughter of Rafaele and Maria Marinelli Steffanci. She attended Spring Street School and Beacon High School. In September of 1938 she married Gerald T. O'Donnell at St. Joachim's Church in Beacon, NY. Mr. O'Donnell predeceased her on April 1, 1988. Survivors include her daughter and son, Anne M. Winkler and her companion, John J. Beck of Virginia Beach, VA; Thomas G. O'Donnell and his wife, Carla Parrella of Poughkeepsie, NY; grandchildren, Debra Loussedes and her husband George Loussedes of Clinton Corners, NY; Douglas Winkler of Virginia Beach, VA; Christopher Winkler of Hopewell Junction, NY; Sim Winkler of AL; and William Parrella O'Donnell of Poughkeepsie, NY; and great-grandchildren, Meagan and Alexis Loussedes. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, John, Charles and Michael Steffanci and Rose Steffanci Renna. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 29, 2010, 10:00 am, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will be in St. Joachim's Cemetery in Beacon, NY. M
