Obituary of Virginia Polgrean
Virginia M. Polgrean, age 75, Poughkeepsie NY, died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at, Vassar Brothers Medical Center Poughkeepsie. Mrs. Polgrean was born December 12, 1934 in Batavia, NY. She is the daughter of the late Samuel and the late Helen (Sass) Myers. She married William J.Polgrean on September 10, 1960 at LeRoy New York. She was a graduate of the University of Rochester with a bachelorâÂÂs degree in Nursing. Virginia was on the teaching staff of Vassar Hospital School of Nursing and was also a Registered Nurse at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester New York. A local resident since 1961, Virginia was previously from Endicott NY and was raised in LeRoy New York the home of JELLO. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church Poughkeepsie and the Coterie WomenâÂÂs Club. Virginia loved to camp in the Adirondacks, Playing Bridge and traveling with friends. She also loved to read sports especially the Yankees and play tennis. But one of the most important things to her was being a part of her grandchildrenâÂÂs lives. She is survived by her husband: William J.Polgrean ; of Poughkeepsie NY, son and daughter in-law David and Sheri Polgrean of Lagrangeville NY and her two daughters Linda and Susan Polgrean of Poughkeepsie NY. She is also survived by her two grandchildren Heather and Joshua, her brother and his wife Samuel and Bonnie Myers of Fairport NY and Sister Jean Myers of Manhattan along with several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Tuesday, September 14 from 4pm to 7pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 15 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mill Street, Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie New York. . In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association Manchester Road Poughkeepsie New York, Sloan- Kettering Memorial Hospital Cancer Center P.O. Box 27106 NY NY 10087 or the First Evangelical Lutheran Church Mill Street Poughkeepsie New York.
