Obituary of George Relyea

George S. Relyea, Jr., 81, a resident of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away on September 3, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He had worked in the Ad Services Department of the Poughkeepsie Journal, Poughkeepsie, NY, retiring in 1999. He was a lifetime area resident. George was a member of Hughsonville Presbyterian Church, met his wife, Jean, roller skating, liked to dance and be around his family and friends. He was born in New Hamburg, NY on August 14, 1929, the son of George S. Relyea and Ruth Bridge. George was a graduate of Wappingers Schools. He married Jean Elizabeth Day on April 3, 1954 in Cornwall Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife; Jean Elizabeth Relyea, of Poughkeepsie, NY, his daughter; Beverly Relyea, Wilton, NY, his daughter and son in-law; Linda and Wayne Record, California, and his grandchildren; James Record, Sara Morrissey, Andrew Record, and Stephen Record. Memorial donations may be made to Hughsonville Presbyterian Church. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 10am at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor, NY.
