Obituary of Shirley Richards

Shirley Richards, 77, a resident of the Town of Wappinger since 2006, died on April 19, 2010 at his home. He had been an Assembler for General Motors in Tarrytown, NY for 35 years. Prior to his retirement he became a Forman. He was born on April 18, 1933 in Scottsburg, VA, the son of Shackarack Richards and Queen Mosley. He was raised in Richmond, VA and moved to Peekskill in 1963. He liked to be outdoors and was a wrestling fan. He also enjoyed making his family happy and laugh, and enjoyed his grandkids and great grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Sheila Field, his sons Stanley, Russell, and Trent Richards and Shirley Richards, Jr., as well as his daughter Tammy Richards, all of Mt. Vernon, NY, his daughters Sonya Hendson of Peekskill, and Crissandra Dickens of Poughkeepsie, his son Darren Richards of Wappingers, 24 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 9am at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc.. Burial will take place in the Cortlandt Cemetery, 1033 Oregon Road, Cortlandt, NY. Calling hours will be on Friday, April 23, 2010 from 4-8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., Poughkeepsie, NY.
