Obituary of Kathryn C. Rogers

Kathryn C. Rogers, 96, of Pleasant Valley, NY, died March 3, 2009. A local resident since 1963, she previously resided in Queens, NY. She was a member of the Lutheran faith. She was very active in the Red Cross and the Girl Scouts. She was also an avid Bird watcher, she enjoyed reading, crocheting and jigsaw puzzles. Born Feb. 17, 1913 in Boonton, NJ, she was the daughter of Frederick Reisch and Caroline Gerhardt. On Oct. 21, 1934 in Queens, NY, she was married to Andrew W. Rogers, who preceded her on Dec. 25, 1983. Survivors include daughter, Elaine Madden of Pleasant Valley; son, Tom Rogers and wife, Karen of Rio Rico, AZ; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and a sister, Lillian Pittenger of Missouri. She was predeceased by a son, Charles F. Rogers in 2002. Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Wilber Blvd., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Calling hours will be held Friday, March 6, 2009, from 2-5pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. Services will follow calling hours at 5pm in the funeral home with Pastor Daniel Ward of St. John's Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
