Obituary of Edith Schaefer

Edith W. Schaefer was born on January 4, 1926 in Poughkeepsie, NY to Pankraz "Ben" and Emilie Weixler. She died on Friday, July 24, 2009 at her home in Pawleys Island, SC where she and her husband of 61 years retired to. Edith married Ernest R. Schaefer on September 4, 1948 and after several moves they settled in Wayland, MA in the 1950's to raise a family. Mrs. Schaefer was employed by the Wayland public school system as a librarian. She always enjoyed outdoor activities, playing tennis and was an avid reader. Mrs. Schaefer is survived by her husband, Ernest, her two sons, Kurt and his wife, Ellen of Medway, MA; Dyrick and his wife, Alice of Ashland, MA and four grandchildren, Katherine, Michael, Brandon, and Amanda. She is also survived by her sister, Rosemarie, and her husband, Richard Patterson of Hyde Park and two nieces, Valerie and Melanie. A simple service celebrating Edith Schaefer's life will be held on July 29, 2009 at 10 a.m. at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY followed by burial in the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
