Obituary of Edgar SCOTT

Edgar W. Scott 78 of Poughkeepsie died at the Elant at Wappingers on Sunday August 2, 2009. Born In Poughkeepsie he was the son of Otto and Oneita Briggs Scott. Edgar was a Graduate of Poughkeepsie High School Class of 1944 and a life long resident of the area. Edgar joined IBM in October of 1950. During an IBM Military leave of absence from 1952 to 1954 he served in the United States Navy as an Aircraft Technician. Upon his return to IBM Edgar was a system Test Technician and in 1967 he transferred to the Poughkeepsie Developmental Laboratory. In 1970 he was promoted to Senior Engineering Lab Specialist. In 1972 Edgar shared in a First Patent Application Award as a co-inventor of “Packaged Magnetic Domain Devices”. In 1973 he was promoted to Technical Associate Engineer. He retired in 1991. On December 7, 1963 at the Trinity United Methodist Church Edgar married Mildred Fells Storms she survives at home. Edgar is also survived by a son Jerald Scott of Cornwall New York, a daughter Sheryl I. Storms of Highland New York, a sister Doris Scribner of Poughkeepsie New York and Several Nieces and Nephews. A Graveside service will be held 1:30pm Thursday August 6, 2009 at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Timothy P.
