Obituary of Helen Shebene

Helen Shebene, of the Town of Poughkeepsie passed away on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010. She was retired from the Creedmore State Hospital, where she worked in the Dietary Dept. A Poughkeepsie resident for many years, she had resided with her granddaughter since Sept. 2008. She had also been a longtime resident of New Hyde Park, L.I., NY. She was a member of Our Lady of the Snows in Floral Park, L.I., NY and a member of Prexies of Manhattan. Born in Manhattan on Aug. 8, 1915, she was the daughter of John and Ellen McKeever Shebene. She attended high school in Manhattan. She was married to the late George LaRose. She is survived by her son, Lawrence LaRose of Schenectady; her youngest sister, Alice Kellett of Elmont, NY; three grandchildren, Thomas LaRose, Patricia LaRose and Lawrence LaRose, Jr.; three great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Mary Ellen, Herb, Ann and John. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Nora Cessa, Christine Cayton, Kathleen Ross and a brother, John Shebene. There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held on 3 to 4:30 pm on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010 at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. Burial will be at the convenience of the family
