Obituary of Eleanor Skov
Eleanor B. Skov, 83, of the Town of Poughkeepsie, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. A 55 year local resident, she was a homemaker and in addition to part time work had worked at N.Y. Tel. when she previously resided in Elmhurst (Queens) NY. She was a member of the Coterie, AAUW, Germania, and St. John's Altar Guild. Her volunteering included the Vassar Warner Home, where she had been a Board Member. She liked to cook and make soup for sick friends, and do flower arrangements, especially the Japanese style. She loved to travel and loved being with friends and her church activities. Born in Elmhurst, NY on August 13, 1927, she was the daughter of William and Frieda Avon Hornlein. She graduated from Queens College with a Degree in Psychology. On April 15, 1951, in Elmhurst, she married Raymond A. Skov, who survives her at their home (23 Greenvale Farms Rd). She is also survived by her son, Warren of Rhinebeck; son and daughter in law, Kenneth and Elizabeth of Trumbull, CT; grandchildren: Brandon of Wappingers Falls, Erica of Boston, Timothy and Kyle of Trumbull, CT. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 22 from 2 to 6pm. at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will be held on Monday August 23 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Wilbur Blvd 12603; Vassar Warner Home, South Hamilton St.12601; or the American Heart Association, Manchester Rd 12601.
