Obituary of Diane SOFKA

Diane Sofka, 79, of Poughkeepsie, passed away on Sunday, Aug.16, 2009 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. A lifelong area resident she was a self employed Real Estate Broker for Diane Sofka Real Estate in Poughkeepsie. She retired in 1992. She belonged to the Bridge Club that played at the Jewish Community Center. She was also a member of Holy Trinity Church. Born in Poughkeepsie on Aug. 19, 1929, she was the daughter of Louis and Helen Marcus Pizzarelli. She attended St. Peter's Grade School and Poughkeepsie High School. She was married to Ted Sofka. He predeceased her in May 1992. She is survived by her companion, Gordon Bennett of Poughkeepsie; her daughter, Linda Sofka of Wappingers Falls; her son and daughter in law, Robert and Tracy Sofka of Poughkeepsie a grandson, Ryan Sofka and a granddaughter, Kimberly Sofka, both of Poughkeepsie; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Roger Kirschner of Conway, SC; a sister in law, Dorothy Pizzarelli and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her parents, and a brother, Frank Pizzarelli. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday Aug. 18, 2009 fro 4pm to 8 pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009 at 11:15 am at Holy Trinity Church. Burial will follow in St. Peters Cemetery, Salt Point Turnpike, Poughkeepsie.
