Obituary of Mary Sottile
Mary L. Sottile, 95, a resident of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away on August 11, 2010 at The Pines, surrounded by her children. She had previously worked as a Seamstress at the Poughkeepsie Blouse Factory, retiring in 1977. She had been a local resident since 1940, having previously resided in Glasco, NY. Mary was a member of the St. Rita Society, International Ladies Garment Workers Union, and Mt. Carmel Church. She enjoyed cooking, reading, needlework, shopping and spending time with her family. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at The Pines for their excellent care and support. Mary was born in Glasco, NY on October 31, 1914, the daughter of Michael Misasi and Theresa DeCicco. She attended schools in Glasco, NY. On November 19, 1939, she married John Sottile in St. Joseph's Church, Glasco, NY. Her husband predeceased her on October 5, 2005. Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Terri & James Walsh of Wappingers Falls, NY, her daughter and son in law, Carol & Dave Boucher of Roswell, GA, her daughter, Marie McKune of Holly Springs, NC, her son and daughter in law, John & Mandy Sottile of Stony Point, NY, 11 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Rose Risimini, Josephine Palumbo, Lillian Knapp, Julia Contini, Theresa Mauro, Geraldine Crowder, Jeanne Crowley, and Janet Shanley, her brothers, Joseph, Michael and Frank, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Foundation, Memorial Gift Program, 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601, or to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 11 Mount Carmel Place, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 13, 2010 from 4 to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 9:30am at Mt. Carmel Church.
