Obituary of Doris Swartz

Doris Swartz passed away suddenly in a car accident along with her daughter and granddaughter on Sunday, September 13, 2009. She was born on April 26, 1925. She married Sam Swartz on November 26, 1944. Her husband predeceased her in 1996. She has two surviving daughters, Elizabeth Mizell of Arizona and Melody Adams of Poughkeepsie. She was predeceased by her son, Kenneth Swartz in 1981, and passed away with her daughter Kathleen. She is survived by her grandchildren David Zwissler, Shawn Palmer, Jamie and Angela Adams, Wenonah Imdorf, Stephen Dow, Eric Swartz, Jill Swartz, Betsy Swartz and Gary Swartz. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Christa Zwissler and grandson Todd Swartz. She also has 14 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition she is survived by her sisters Janet Baker, Elizabeth Hardinge and Grace Kyper. She was predeceased by her sister, Alice Hardinge. Doris worked in Wallace's in Poughkeepsie for many years. She worked for sometime at Beta BOCES in Poughkeepsie as a teacher's aide. Doris enjoyed being with her family. She was on her way home from visiting her sister when they had this terrible accident. She will be greatly missed by her large and extended family. Calling hours will be Friday, September 18, 2009, from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 10:00am at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery Community Mausoleum. Memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice in her name.
