Obituary of Marie Vail
Marie Elizabeth Vail, 83, a resident of Lagrangeville, NY, died peacefully with her family at Lutheran Care Center on September 14, 2010. She was a devoted mother & homemaker. She also ran the family dairy farm with her former husband, Raymond Vail, for many years. She was a lifetime local resident. Marie was a 4-H Leader, Willing Workers 4H Club, as well as a member of Trinity Methodist Church, Lagrangeville, NY. She loved her family and rural living, and was admired and respected by all those who knew her. She was actively involved for over thirty years with Dutchess County 4-H and Cooperative Extension, and church groups at the Trinity Methodist Church, Lagrangeville. She was born in Red Hook, NY on April 27, 1927, the daughter of the late James White and the late Theodora Van Dyke. She was a graduate of Arlington High School, class of 1946. Survivors include her children: Lorraine Vail & Edward Smith - Phoenix, AZ, James & Laura Vail - Lagrangeville, NY, Brenda & Victor Holmes - Lagrangeville, NY, John & Joyce Vail - W. Palm Beach, FL, Steven Vail and Bonnie Bargstedt Delhi, NY, and Patricia & Barry Nelson - Lagrangeville, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Tricia (Bill) Ligouri, Jr. of Lagrangeville, Kevin (Betty) Vail of Pawling, NY. LeeAnn (Christopher) Cuomo of Hyde Park. Steven, Dylan & Jaclyn Vail of Lagrangeville. Jason Holmes of Poughkeepsie, James (Joanne) Holmes of Poughkeepsie, Jeremy Holmes of Lagrangeville, Erin Holmes of Atlanta, GA, Tiffany (Robert) Hollister of Woodstock, NY, Rachel Vail of Delhi, NY & Kyle and Alex Nelson of Lagrangeville, NY, and her great grandchildren, Rachel, Ryan & Richard Ligouri of Lagrangeville, Liam Vail of Pawling, NY, Hailey Vail of Hyde Park, NY, Sage Cuomo of Hyde Park, NY, Bobby, Austin & Keith Hollister of Woodstock, NY, Brother and Sister in-law Kenneth and Kathleen White of Sarasota Fla, Previously of Pleasant Valley NY, and their children Kenneth and Susan. Memorial donations may be made to National MS Society 733 Third Ave. 3rd Floor NY NY 10017 or Hospice Foundation 374 Violet Ave. Poughkeepsie New York 12601. Calling hours will be on Friday, Sept. 17, 201 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept 17, 2010 at 6:30pm in the funeral home. Burial will take place in Crum Elbow Cemetery at a later date.
