Obituary of Donny Whitt

Donny Whitt, 48. Many people move in and out of our lives but only true friends leave footprints deep in your heart. On Sunday, October 10, 2010 we lost Donny Whitt who was such a loving father, cherished husband, caring son, brother and true friend. Donny Whitt, 48, resided in Pleasant Valley, NY. He was born on January 31,1962 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. He graduated from LCCC with a HVAC degree. He made his home in Pleasant Valley, NY with the love of his life, Sand Davis from Dallas, PA. He was employed for 26 years with IBM as a planner in Facilities Maintenance. Taken much too soon, he was a gentle man who truly loved to spend time with his wife and family and he was most proud of his children Daniel & Ashleigh. He always told a great story. He enjoyed life, Harleys, working on Chevys, bicycling, and spending time with his family & friends. Donny celebrated loudly whenever the Cowboys, Yankees & Jeff Gordon won. Donny's smile and quick wit will be greatly missed. He is survived by his bride of 10 years, Sand Whitt. He is also survived by his son, Daniel Whitt of LaGrange and his daughter, Ashleigh Davis of South Carolina. He is the son of Marie (Evans) Whitt and the late Roy Whitt, Sr. of Plains. He was the brother of Donna Bidgood, Edward Whitt, Jennifer Policare and Alison Whitt of Pittston, PA., Susan Strohl of Luzerne, PA., Pamela Whitt of Thornhurst, PA., Sandra Whitt of Lancaster, PA., Debra McCann of Delaware, and Roy Whitt of Plymouth, Pa. He is also survived by 19 nieces and nephews and one grand-niece. Donny will be enormously missed but with the memories of his entire family and friends he will forever be with us and never forgotten. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 16, from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. Monsignor Brinn from St. Mary's Church will conduct a prayer service at 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
