Obituary of Arthur Woods

Arthur C. Woods, 72, a resident all his life until he moved to Florida in 1994, died June 24, 2009, at Haven Hospice Palatka Florida. He was a Truck Driver for Budweiser Distributor, also previously worked at Schatz Federal Bearing, until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of the Red Hook VFW, served in the United States Air Force, attended City of Poughkeepsie Schools and Red Hook Schools, very involved with the Council of the Aging and Meals on Wheels in Florida. Friends and family came first to Art; he was very caring, generous and giving. He helped the needy, had a big heart and was an animal lover. He leaves behind his beloved dog Abby. Born April 10, 1937, in Wappingers Falls, NY, he was the son of Arthur C. and Catherine Phillips Wood. In, Newburgh, NY, he married Gail Craig. Survivors include wife, of Newburgh, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Susan Woods of Plattkill, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Arnold Gutierrez of Colorado; son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Daniella Woods of Walden, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Evan and Crystal Woods of Newburgh NY; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-inlaw, Leonard and Kelly Murphy and John and Susan Murphy; Sister in-law Eileen Wood; beloved aunt and uncle Ed and Anita Phillips; several nieces and nephews. Art was predeceased by his parents Catherine Murphy and Arthur Wood, Stepfather John Murphy and his brother Victor Wood. Calling hours will be held on Sunday June 28, 2009 from 2pm to 5pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 29, 2009, at 11:00 am at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc. Burial will be at St. Paul's Methodist Church Cemetery, Red Hook, NY at the convenience of the family.
