Obituary of Robert Zimmermann
Robert P. Zimmermann of Pleasant Valley left us on March 11th with his family by his side. Bobby, 54, was born on February 11, 1956 in Poughkeepsie. He leaves behind his two sons, Bo and Mykel Zimmermann of Pleasant Valley; friend and former wife Paula Healy Bedell of Poughkeepsie; daughter, Rigina Crawford of Poughkeepsie; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Linda Zimmermann of Pleasant Valley; sister, Karen Staats of Pine Plains; and nieces and nephews. Bobby was predeceased by his parents, Don and Marge Zimmermann. "Zim" was employed by James Cagney on Verney Farms, and in his earlier years, worked at the Dutch Cabin when it was a family-owned business. He enjoyed the Jersey Shore, fishing, baseball, bow hunting, and participated in deer search. The thing he enjoyed most was spending time with his boys. He was a great story teller and had a heart of gold. There will be an absence in all our lives with his passing. A special thanks to Tonya Strothers and Ann Marie Slater for their friendship and compassion. They not only helped Robert with his transition to his passing but continue to help us left behind with our transition to life without him. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A graveside service will be held on Friday, 10 am, at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mental Health of America and Hospice in Bobby's memory. Thank you.
