Brother Donald was an inspiration not only to his students but to everyone involved in education. He was an outstanding teacher, who shared his knowledge of teaching with those who followed him. He was also a brilliant mathematician and one who could always make learning math fun. He was a caring, involved individual who was always there to help, no matter what. I personally owe part of my own success in education to what I learned from Brother Donald. May he rest in peace, Amen.

Although we never taught together, we did attend Marist College together after we left the Novitiate. You were always kind and friendly. May you Rest in Peace after so many years of FMS service.

I was so saddened to learn of Brother Kelly's passing. Brother Kelly was one of my math professors at Marist College in the mid-1980s. He was patient, kind, funny--it was a pleasure to attend his classes. He just really touched my life and I am so grateful to have known him. May he rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. (Coincidentally, the "Captcha" I'm being asked to answer below is a math equation ("What is 17+1")--how appropriate....I wish all equations in Brother Kelly's classes were as simple!). With sincerest sympathies, Judy Abruzzo

I am saddened to hear of Brother Donald's passing. Brother Donald may not have been a "blood" relative, but he was, for many years, an integral part of my family. My parents met Brother Donald before he took his final vows as a Marist Brother, during the time that my siblings, cousin, brother-in-law and I attended Christ the King HS. Through the years, a lifelong friendship evolved - he became part of my family. He shared in many family gatherings - every graduation, wedding, baptism and funeral. He was always there. We laughed, we cried, we laughed until we cried - in good times and bad. And I am so thankful for all the memories of times spent in Brother's company. There was always a story to be told, and at times, a lesson to be learned. He always remembered, he always cared. Every year for as long as I can remember, he called my mother on her birthday. It always made her day, even if the call came at 11:00 pm when she was half asleep...I will never forget his kindness and compassion, his passion for teaching, his dedication to his calling of being a Marist Brother, and his being a very special part of my life and my family. Fly high and rest easy, Brother Donald, and know that your memory will forever live on in my heart and in the hearts of all those who loved you.

Brother Donald...a great friend to my family. He was like family to us...always ready to lend a listening ear, a helping hand, or a shoulder to lean on. Thank you for your advice and wisdom you shared throughout my life. God bless you and rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Brother Kelly. I got to know him over the years here at Marist and he supplied me with many great stories. I remember he was walking the halls and looked in the window of my classroom. He just decided to come in and start talking to my students about how old his car was and how it "wouldn't bother him if somebody hit it." Yeah, seemed like a scene out of a different era. Great man and a wonderful member of the Marist community. He will be missed and I will say a prayer for him.

I am deeply sorry to hear of Donald's passing. I have many fond memories of him from my childhood. He was loving, compassionate and generous. His success ( as well as his siblings success) was always an inspiration to me. Being proud, hardworking kids of Irish immigrants runs deep in his family as well as in mine. Donald and his brothers and sisters were a huge support to my parents before they died and that is never lost on me or forgotten. Living in NC and running a busy life left little time for travel so I had not seen him in a long time, I think of him often. May he rest in peace. I hope his final resting place is as filled with love as it was on earth. Thoughts and prayers to all the family. Love always, Kelly Ann

I got to know Bro. Don a relatively short time ago. We met after he had inherited Dr. Joe Belanger's clock and it needed attention. He was a true gentleman who pulled no punches expressing his ideas & views of the world.
I will miss him. RIP

Once there was a beautiful funeral procession taking place in a Chapel. There was a long line of people in a procession. Each one carried a candle showing their faces as their candles reflected their glow. One person sat alone and sad. When asked by others why she was not in the procession she replied " I would to but every time I light my candle it is put out by my tears". LOVE YOU FOREVER and EVER! Your baby sister, Eileen

Br. Donald was my 9th grade math teacher. He was a smart, gifted, phenomenal teacher. He was energetic, and enthusiastic. He even put me on the freshman basketball team at 5'4" (as statistician :-))! He instilled a love of mathematics in me, and inspired me to teach that subject. He also hired me to teach at Christ the King when he was department chair. While I have not seen him often in recent years, he was still inspirational. But above all he was a kind, caring person. I will never forget him reaching out to me when my Dad passed away 4 years ago. I have no idea how he learned of his passing, but he was there for me, just as he was 45 years ago when I was his student. You have fought the good fight and run the race. Your well-deserved reward is yours in heaven! Rest in peace, Donald!
