Obituary of Gabriel Bahamonde

Gabriel Bahamonde, age 97, Poughkeepsie died Friday, February 4, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie. Mr. Bahamonde was born June 19, 1913 on the Island Of Chiloe, in Southern Chile. He was the son of the late Andronico and the late Filomena Bahamonde. On Oct 8, 1949 in Chile he married Lastenia Gallardo, she predeceased him November 6, 2008. Gabriel was the owner of a restaurant in Chile. After selling the restaurant he retired and moved to the United States. He was a local resident for 17 years and previously lived in Yonkers New York. Gabriel loved to read, watch Soccer games and play Truco which is a game that is played in Southern Argentina and Southern Chile. He is survived by his Daughter And Son In-law, Pat And Candido Palermo of Poughkeepsie, NY, Grandchildren and their spouses, Cynthia Palermo and Dick Murchison of Washington CT., and Joseph G. and Kerri Palermo of Hyde Park NY. He is also survived by his Great Grandchildren, Brianna, Alyssa, Joseph G. Jr., and Kristina Palermo and several nieces and nephews. Gabriel was the second oldest of the family, he was predeceased by 3 brothers and 1 sister. The family would like to thank the dedicated nurses and staff of two south at the Lutheran Care Facility. The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Ave., Poughkeepsie. Funeral Arrangements are being handled by the Timothy P.
