Obituary of Florence Bambakos

Florence A. Bambakos, 90, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, lived locally from 1954 until 1967; in 1967, she moved to Cary, NC and returned to the area in 1969 after the passing of her husband; formerly of Middletown, died Thursday, February 12, 2009, at Vassar Medical Center. She worked in Quality Control at IBM, Poughkeepsie and in Cary, NC, until her retirement in January, 1984. She was a member of the 50 Plus Club, a graduate of Middletown Schools and enjoyed bingo, cards, and Mahjong. Born December 15, 1918, in Monsey, NY, she was the daughter of John and Ester Brzinski. In July, 1941, in Middletown, NY, she married Terry M. Bambakos, who predeceased her in September 1961. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Peter McGinnis of Poughkeepsie, NY; daughter, Nancy Bradford of Santa Barber, CA; grandchildren, Michael and his wife, Amber Nenner, Blair McGinnis Pearlman and her husband, Paul and Kelly McGinnis; great grandson, Cole Louis Pearlman; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Helen, Beatrice and Irene and a brother, John. Calling hours will be held on February 14, 2009 at 11am at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 14, 2009 in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. H. Dwight Bolton officiating. Burial will be at Wallkill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
