Obituary of Leslie Barnes

Leslie J. Barnes, 60, passed away October 22, 2011 at the Summit Park Nursing Facility in Pomona, NY. She was born May 30, 1951 in Rocky Mtn., NC, the daughter of the late Susie Barnes. Leslie was formerly a resident of Fredericksburg, VA but spent most of her life in Poughkeepsie. She received her associate degree in nursing. She was employed as a custodian for Vassar College for 22 years until her retirement. Leslie enjoyed traveling, cooking, music and her family. She also enjoyed birds. She is survived by her son David Barnes of Poughkeepsie; son and daughter-in-law Roderick and Donnette Barnes of Poughkeepsie; daughter Stephanie Hanoomansi of Richmond, VA; 3 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Leslie was predeceased by her brother Edward Hunter. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 9:00-11:00am at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Services will be held following the calling hours at 11:00am in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY.
