I am sorry to hear about mike's death. I wish as a cousin i could have spent more time with him. I can remember when we were younger and he slept over we played Atari and had a blast! To Mike's loving family. I was blessed to have known Mike and worked with Mike at First Franklin. One of my memories was driving from the Denver Airport to bachelors Gulch for a few days of meetings. Mike and Dave Hanthorn and I shared a car and when we finally arrived at the hotel - I remember my face hurting from laughing so hard the entire trip. To the Besko family: I was so sad to hear of the illness Michael had 8 years ago. I have always respected Michael. I worked with him at Citimortgage and he was an intelligent, special Executive that always tried to be fair and had a great attitude. He always showed his love for his family and friends. Mike was a great friend, together with Christia, to my sister and her family. He was an inspiration to us and we not only admired his heroic fight, but the kind of wonderful husband, father, son, brother and friend he was. We are very sad that his life was cut short, but he clearly lived a life that mattered and touched so many people both near and far while on this earth. We'll see you in heaven, Mike, and look to you to lead the way when we get there.

Christia, I found out about Michael's illness a couple of years ago when you were getting inducted into the ECSU Hall of Fame and were unable to make the ceremony. My thoughts and prayers have been with you ever since. I am so sorry that your life with Michael has been cut so short, but it is my hope that you will be able to find peace in the knowledge that he is no longer suffering and his battle is finally over. I worked with Mike at Citimortgage. He went to bat for us in Albany when the investors that took over didn't pay us, and he got us almost all of what was owed to us. He really cared. I will always remember him. He always wore a smile that would light up the room. What a wonderful guy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

my name is irene powell from brewster, ny. i am so sad to hear of the loss of mike. i had worked at beneficial mtge back in the early 1990's. when mike first walked through the door to train w/tammy russo.(i was working in collections dept under tammy russo at the time.) what a wonderful person he was to have added to beneficial mtge...i always enjoyed his pep & enthusiam toward life in general & the workplace. and there was one special time that i do remember outside of work. it was when a co-worker & myself went to boston for the weekend. mike & christia were also in boston that weekend.(to see a celtic's game the garden.) after the game we all met at a brewery in the north end & preceded to go out dancing thereafter. it is a very fond memory today. i am so sorry for the loss of such a fine individual w/such great spirit. i am so sorry for your loss. irene r. powell

Michael will always have a long-lasting impression on me. There was a period of time where we saw each other so frequently, I'm sure he got tired of seeing me. But you'd never know it. To say he had a positive attitude would merely scratch the surface. One could tell that his inner strength was unmatched. Nothing could keep him down, and he would still manage a smile even when his face wouldn't cooperate! As a physician, I hear too often when a patient passes on. The news of Michael's death, while not surprising, is especially saddening for me. My sincere condolences to Christia, Kevin, Kiley, and the entire Besko family.
