Obituary of Joseph BOCCHINO

Joe Bocchino, 70, of the City of Poughkeepsie, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie. A local resident since 1967, he had previously resided in Italy. Mr. Bocchino owned and operated Joe B's Barber Shop in Poughkeepsie. He served in the Italian Army and was a member of Holy Trinity Church. Joe loved his daughters and grandchildren and he liked to garden. He loved his work as a Barber and his clients loved him. He was very active, he loved to travel to Italy to visit his family. Born on January 19, 1938 in Beneventto Italy, he was the son of Angelo and Assunta Nardone Bocchino. He attended schools in Italy. On January 25, 1959 in Italy, he married Franca Filoia, she predeceased him on October 10, 2001. He is survived by his daughter Tina Bocchino of the Town of Poughkeepsie; his daughter and son-in-law, Ivana and Mark Boland of the Town of Poughkeepsie; and his grandchildren, Anthony and Michael Pena and Joseph and Marissa Boland. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 9:45 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
