Obituary of Peter Cavalla
Peter Cavalla, 68, of Poughkeepsie, NY, died November 17, 2008. A local resident for 30 years, he had also resided in Brooklyn, NY. Peter worked as an engineer for IBM, Poughkeepsie, retiring in 2001. He was a member of US Power Squadron (Mid-Hudson Chapter), the Chelsea Yacht Club and St. Martin de Porres Church. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Peter was a Ham Radio Operator N25PJ. Born October 17, 1940 in Patterson, NJ, he was the son of Peter Cavalla and Lucy Nolan. On Jan. 14, 1979 at St. Stanislaus, Pleasant Valley, he married Veronica Keller. Mrs. Cavalla survives him at home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Patricia E. Kelley and her husband, Colin, and their son, Conner of Richmond, VA; daughter, Vanessa A. Cavalla, Boston, MA; sisters, Dianne Joyce, Kingston, NY, Judith Barry and husband, Allan, Chester, NY and Lucille Capone, Middletown, NY; father-in-law, Leonard Keller, Pleasant Valley, NY; sisters-inlaw, Sharon Martin, Poughkeepsie, NY and Marilyn Riley, Colorado Springs, CO; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held from 3-5 and 7-9pm on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008 at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:15am, Friday, Nov. 21, 2008 at St. Martin de Porres Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY.
