Obituary of Naomi Elwell

Naomi B. Elwell, 79, a 40 year resident, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 at Ferncliff Nursing Home. Mrs. Elwell was a bookkeeper for Nutra-Vet in Poughkeepsie, retiring in 2002. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 37 in Poughkeepsie; a three time past president, secretary, treasurer and chaplin. Born July 14, 1929 in Evansville, IN, she was the daughter of Charles and Averil Pickering Darnell. On May 20, 1949, she married Dr. Robert G. Elwell in Evansville, IN. Dr. Elwell died Nov. 1, 1975. Survivors include her son, Michael and his wife, Kathleen of Homer, IN; her son, George and his wife, Mary of Red Hook; her son, Charles and his wife, Mary of Rennselaer; her daughter, Emilie Klump and her husband, Frank of Salt Point; her daughter, Virginia Pendergast and her husband, Frank of Homer, IN; and her daughter, Susan Region and her husband, Gordon of Germantown, NY; a brother and sisters, nieces and nephews in Evansville, IN; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several other nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. Burial and graveside services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Union Cemetery in Hyde Park. Memorial donations may be made to Ferncliff Nursing Home, Rhinebeck.
