Obituary of Anthony Ferlito

Anthony J. Ferlito, City of Poughkeepsie, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Raised and born in Poughkeepsie on August 19, 1923, he was the son of Concetto and Angela Ferlito. He attended Poughkeepsie High School and was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He served in the US Army Air Corp., stationed in Alaska and obtained the rank of Sergeant. He married Mary Maccaronio and she predeceased him on April 11, 1997. He had worked for Shatz Federal Bearing and IBM in Fishkill and worked part-time in his retirement at Price Chopper. Anthony was a member of the Italian Center and enjoyed gardening. He was a saxophone player while he was in the service. Mr. Ferlito is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Angela and Arthur Green of Staten Island, NY, daughters Josephine Ferlito of Poughkeepsie and Linda Ferlito of Poughkeepsie. Also surviving are his two grandsons Phillip and Michael Green. There are no calling hours. The Funeral will be held on Monday, May 16, 2011 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
