Obituary of Georgeann Ford
Georgeann (Jan) Ford, 74, died April 14, 2011, with her family near her side at Westside Regional Hospital in Plantation, FL.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at TM Ralph Funeral Home in Plantation, FL and a visitation is scheduled for Monday, April 25, 2011 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Doyle Funeral Home followed by a 3:30 pm graveside service at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
She was born September 5, 1936, in Webster Groves to George and Idelia Holmes. She graduated from Webster Groves High School in 1954 and married Robert Ford later that year. After Bob graduated from college, they moved to Poughkeepsie, NY.
Jan spent the earlier years in her marriage raising her three sons. After the children were grown Jan worked as a typist and a clerk retiring from Dutchess County BOCES after 10 years.
Her interests included family, gardening, and reading. She moved to Plantation, FL in 2000 to be closer to Frank and Dave. She spent much of her time with her children, along with socializing with her friends. She was an active member of the Plantation Newcomers club even after 10 years.
Mrs. Ford is survived by her sister and husband, Idelia and Jules Tibolla; brother, Frank and Martha Holmes; 3 sons and their spouses, William and Cheryl Ford of Delaware, Dave and Emily Ford of Brunswick, GA, Frank and Linda Ford of Davie, FL; 3 grandchildren, Timothy, Justin, and Edith; 6 step-grandchildren and several nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ford.
Calling hours will be held Monday April 25, 2011 from 1pm to 3pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie New York.
A graveside service will be held at 330pm at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery in the Lawn Crypt section.
Donations may be sent to the Ft. Lauderdale Cocker Spaniel Rescue.
