Obituary of Legrand Fowx

LeGrand I Fowx, age 89, of Poughkeepsie died Thursday, January 20, 2011 at home surround by his family. Mr. Fowx was born April 19, 1921 in Poughkeepsie, NY the son of the late Charles Harold and the late Beatrice Mary (Schmadel) Fowx. On July 21, 1973 in Hyde Park New York LeGrand married Angelina A. Polito. She predeceased him September 8, 2007. He served in the United States Navy during World War II .He retired from IBM Poughkeepsie where he was a Second Line Manager and he was a member of the Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church. Mr. Fowx was a member of Sheko Meko Lodge 458, Pirate Canoe Club and the Patton Club. He loved to hunt, fish and enjoyed watching competitive sporting events. He is survived by his children: Daughter and Son In-law, Shelia and Orkendell Ford of Alexandria, VA; Son LeGrand Fowx and His Fiancé Jessica Olay of Poughkeepsie, NY., and His Son and Daughter In-law, Francois and Dawn Fowx of Poughkeepsie, NY; Grandchildren, Darleen Ford of VA; Kyle, Christopher, Julia, Siena, Mason and Calvin Fowx of Poughkeepsie, NY. LeGrand was predeceased by his brothers Charles, Bradley McAlester and Calvin Fowx. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2pm to 6pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. The funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, at a later date.
