Obituary of Leo Freihofer
Leo Freihofer, 80, of LaGrangeville, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie. A lifelong area resident, he was a selfemployed Milkman for Freihofer Dairy and was also a self-employed Butcher, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Steuben Society of America and a 50 year member of Germania. He was also a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Poughkeepsie. He was a past Volunteer Fireman for the Arlington Fire Department at Red Oaks Mill Station 3. Born in New York city on July 9, 1927, he was the son of Leopolt and Rosa Klein Freihofer. He attended Wappingers Schools. On Dec. 3, 1961 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Poughkeepsie, he married Margaret Pfeffer. She predeceased her husband on May 8, 1999. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Rosemarie and Kevin Tompkins of LaGrangeville; his son, Leo Freihofer of LaGrangeville; his brother and sister-in-law, Herman and and Beatrice Freihofer of Unionvale, his grandsons, Joseph Leo and William Paul Tompkins; as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2008 from 3pm to 5pm and 7pm to 9pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. The Steuben Society will hold Services at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Ave., Poughkeepsie.
