Obituary of Harold Gallagher
Harold Arthur Gallagher, age 72, of Wappingers Falls, New York died Friday, October 16, 2009 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center surrounded by his family after a long Illness. Born July 29, 1937, in Beacon New York to the late Harold C. and Ethel Shultz Gallagher. Harold attended Beacon High School. In 1955 he met the love of his life, Aileen Dawn Stofan of Beacon, New York. On September 1, 1957 they were married at St. John the Evangelist Church in Beacon, New York. Harold was employed by the New York State Department of Correctional Services as a Corrections Officer. Harold worked at Green Haven Prison from 1958 until he retired in 1989. Harold was a big fan of the Yankees and the Giants. He loved to collect sports cards, travel and photography. He also had a love for local history, American Civil War and had a avid interest in geneology. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberley Gallagher of Poughkeepsie, New York; his two sons and their wives, Christopher and Janice and Gregory and Karen, all of Poughkeepsie. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Kayla Appleholm and Kyle, Steven, Erin, Ryan and Kristin Gallagher; niece, Wendy Stofan Halley of Vermont; brother- in-law, Timothy J. Stofan of Colorado; and brother-in-law and sister- -in-law, Joseph W. and Elaine Stofan of Tucson Ariz. Harold was predeceased by his son in-law Bob ( Robert ) Appleholm, sister- in-law, Karla Stofan and his in-laws, Joseph and Dorothy Stofan. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, October 20th, 2009 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at St Mary Mother of the Church, Fishkill NY. Burial will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. The family would like to thank everyone at Dutchess Dialysis, The Pines, Vassar ICU and Circle 5 for all thier kindness and care given to Harold.
