Obituary of Florence Gyger
Florence T. Gyger, 98, a 15 year local resident , formerly of Brooklyn and Sayville, Long Island, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2009 at the Pines at Poughkeepsie. Mrs. Gyger was a saleswomen for Gerts in Queens, NY. She was a member of St. Lawrence Church in Sayville, Long Island. Born May 10, 1910 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Andrew and Mary Smith Fletcher. On Feb. 11, 1929 in Brooklyn, she married Frederick J. Gyger. Mr. Gyger died Feb. 10, 1982. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Barbara Ann Gyger of Pleasant Valley; her grandson, Stephen Gyger of NC; grandson, Frederick Gyger of NM; granddaughter, Ann Musa of NY; granddaughter, Jennifer Volnick of NY; granddaughter, Debra King of FL; grandson, Ronald Kaisen of FL; grandson, Raymond Kaisen of FL; and her son-in-law, Ronald Kaisen. She also has 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, her sister, Margaret Springer St. James of LI; and her brother, Raymond Fletcher of Kentucky. She was predeceased by her daughter, Florence Elizabeth Kaisen and by several brothers and sisters. Calling hours will be 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Holy Trinity Church. Burial will be in the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Ave., Poughkeepsie.
