Obituary of Randy Harwood

Randy L. Harwood, 59, of the Town of Poughkeepsie, passed away at home on Thursday, May 29, 2008. A 30 year local resident, he was employed as a Traffic Safety Engineer for the New York State Department of Transportation, retiring on May 8, 2008. He had previously resided in Hornell, New York. He was a member of the Mid Hudson Rowing Association and a board member of the Springside Landscape Restoration. Randy did a lot of volunteer work in the Community, he was very considerate of the environment; had an interest for Public Transportation and loved to Kayak and boat in the Adirondack Water Trail. He was born in Hornell, New York on October 19, 1948, the son of Thomas and Betty Comfort Harwood. He received his degree from Alfred State Technical College, On September 16, 2001 in Rhinebeck, he married Jeannie Klima. Mrs. Harwood survives at home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother of Hornell, NY; his daughters, Heather Singleton of Brooklyn and Brooke Harwood of Charlotte, NC: two brothers, Thomas Harwood of Escondido, CA; and Mike Harwood of Plano, TX; four sisters, Dianne Moore, Sandy Mehlenbacher, Linda Drum and Penny Davidson; two step children, Lauren Farrar of the Bronx and Michael Farrar of Poughkeepsie as well as many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 2, 2008 from 2 to 4 pm at the 1st Presbyterian Church, 100 Cannon St., Poughkeepsie. A Memorial Service will follow visitation at 4:00 pm at the Church. Burial will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Ave., Poughkeepsie. Memorial donations may be made to the Springside Landscape Restoration, P.O. Box 4915, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
